Wrong Year, Wrong Time, Same Lazy Race

I have mentioned before that sometimes, one will feel as though they were born in the wrong century. I am no exception. I long for simpler time when ones life depended on being active and human.

I imagine waking up in the 18th or 19th century. Lighting candles as it is early and the sun is still waiting to come up. I walk across the hard, cold wooden floors to dress. I go down a long set of stairs and exit my home. A home which I helped build. I take in a deep breath and begin to process what needs to be done for the day.

But no, I open my eyes and see laziness. Everywhere. People who die if their cell phones where off for an hour.

Dam we as a race have become f**king lazy. How many would starve if they had to do things for themselves? I can hope the next generation learns to get out and play with a freaking stick at least. But that is doubtful

So very true. Oh and I love the new (and if it's not don't tell me) look to the page.

Take out the first two sentences of your ideal setting, and the stairway. Say "hi" to my teen years. But I will admit, those days were simpler... and very exhausting.

I see these people too, all the time, but there are still those of us (you and I, and others) who see the light at the end of the tunnel. I can see myself living on a farm with no modern conveniences because I've already done that. Well, except for electricity. I had a hand pump for the water well and no running water. Heated water on the stove to wash with. Had an outhouse. Could cook food on the wood stove. Those were the days. Oh, yes, and freezing one's butt off in the dead of winter at -40F with a windchill to bring the temperature down even lower.

Many of those lazy people would starve or freeze to death, but there would just be less of them to deal with. Not to worry.
